Integrity Management of Offshore Loading Lines

Loading Line Inspection and Integrity Services

Managing the integrity of loading lines presents unique challenges, primarily due to the harsh offshore environment and the critical role these lines play in an operator’s network. Offshore loading and unloading lines are difficult to access for inspection, and factors such as unknown cleanliness conditions, complex pipeline design and low or no flow complicates the inspection process. Ensuring reliable and continuous monitoring of the integrity of loading lines is challenging, and the technology must be robust enough to withstand the harsh conditions.

We address these challenges with customized in-line inspection and integrity assessment services to maximize uptime, maintain economic efficiency and ensure safety of offshore loading lines.

Pre-in-line Inspection Cleaning

At the start of an in-line inspection campaign, the cleanliness of the loading line is often unknown. However, pipeline cleanliness is a critical factor in the success of the inspection process and determines the quality of the data collected during the run. In addition, cleaning prior to the in-line inspection can confirm the free passage of the in-line inspection tool, adding safety to the process.

Our bi-directional reverse cleaning solutions not only prepare pipelines for accurate data collection, but also maximize performance by bringing the loading line debris to the entry point and not pushing it deeper towards the pipeline end manifold (PLEM).

Threat Detection and Data Collection

Unique characteristics require customized solutions. We employ a broad portfolio of different sensor technologies covering the most common threats in offshore loading lines using magnetic flux leakage (MFL), ultrasonic testing (UT), time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) and geometry and mapping solutions. This comprehensive technology suite enables accurate data collection to address threats like shore approach corrosion, microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC), girth weld cracks, and geometric deformations, for example caused by third-party damage or pipeline movement.

Our in-line inspection solutions are bi-directional and utilize a variety of propulsion methods, including free-swimming and robotic. This allows inspection from a single access point and under varying operating conditions.
